 Warm and filling, this savory pumpkin chili is loaded with simple, wholesome ingredients and can be ready to eat in under 30 minutes.  Now that’s my kind of week night meal!

Easy Turkey Pumpkin Chili

 This was actually my first attempt at making pumpkin chili and I have to say that I was SO pleased with the result. I may or may not have done a ridiculous little happy dance in my kitchen. But you guys, come on, a HEALTHY dinner that is incredibly delish and takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish…. now that is something to celebrate! This chili is definitely family friendly and it’s very easy to control the level of spiciness depending on your family’s tolerance for it. I used 1 jalapeño and it provided the perfect little kick in my opinion but feel free to only use 1/2 if you need it to be a bit more mild.

This chili only requires 1 cup of pure canned pumpkin but be sure to save those leftovers. I’m working on a pumpkin cutout cookie that just needs a bit of pumpkin or you could try my Healthy Pumpkin Cranberry Cookies from the blog archives. Enjoy!!

Easy Turkey Pumpkin Chili

  • Yield: 7 cups
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes


  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeño, finely diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1.2 pounds 93% lean ground turkey (1 lb is fine, my turkey comes in 1.2 lb package)
  • 2 10 ounce cans diced tomatoes with green chilies (Ro'tel)
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 15 ounce can Canelli beans, rinsed (great northern beans would work as well)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika


  1. Using a large to medium greased pan (at least 3 inches deep) begin sautéing the onion and jalapeño with the 1/4 teaspoon of salt on a low-medium heat.

  2. Once they begin to soften, add ground turkey. Stir frequently until turkey is cooked through and no longer pink.

  3. Add cans of diced tomatoes.

  4. Stir in beans, pumpkin and spices.

  5. Allow to simmer for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to deepen.

  6. Serve with a sprinkle of fresh parmesan and a few crackers. Enjoy.
