Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie

This smoothie is a quick and easy (not to mention incredibly healthy) way to start your day. Yogurt, blueberries, flaxseed, and oats are blended together in perfect ratio to create the ultimate breakfast drink.

 My favorite thing about this smoothie (and why I have one almost everyday) is how quickly it comes together. I throw everything in a big cup and turn my hand blender on high and within seconds I have breakfast ready to go. 

I make one for the kids to split on the way to school and one for myself and it only adds 5-7 minutes to my morning routine (that’s for 2 smoothies!!) Plus it’s so easy to change up the flavors. Strawberry, mango, pineapple….. The possibilities are endless. Now keep in mind that the oats do add a bit of texture so if you are entirely against texture in your smoothie, then omit the oats but do keep in the  flaxseed for all the amino acids and fiber it provides! 16 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber will keep you full and energized all morning long for only 237 calories.

Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie

  • Yield: 1 smoothie
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes


  •  1 cup plain non fat yogurt
  •  1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  •  2 tablespoon milled flaxseed
  •  2 tablespoons old fashioned oats
  •  2 small packets stevia (4grams) (optional, feel free to omit or subsitute with your favorite sweetener)


  1. In a large cup(using the hand blender)  blend the yogurt and frozen blueberries together.*

  2. Add the flax, oats and stevia and blend until smooth. If you find that it's thicker than you prefer, add 1-2 tbsp of almond or dairy milk.


*I like to use my hand blender (immersion blender) for the most easy, hassle free smoothie. I don't even pour it into a separate cup. A standing blender would be fine though.
